Habachtal is a beautiful valley full of natural treasures in the heart of Austria and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the Alps. The valley is home to magnificent forests, crystal clear streams and high mountains that offer visitors a unique experience.

The discovery of emeralds from the Leckbach attracts collectors to this picturesque Tauern Valley year after year, but also pyrite, actinolite, magnetite octahedrons, aquamarine and schorlite.

The emerald mine in the Leckbach stream channel is the the only significant emerald deposit in the whole of Europe!

Other mineral deposits have been found in classic Alpine fissures in the area, such as smoky quartz from the Wiesbach range, rock crystal from the Teufelsmühle and frenite in the valley walls. The flow of the Habach river in the valley floor and the waterfalls in the canyons between the mountains are a wonderful sight for those who love the feeling of being close to nature.

The vast snow-capped mountains in the region are over 3,000 metres high.
